Promoting innovation in special basic engineering – Budapester Zeitung

The company based in Békés received half of the investment amount from the GINOP Plus program and raised the other half from its own resources and loans. The money was used to create 3,900 ma² to build a large industrial plant in which design, development, production, assembly and maintenance are integrated. In addition, two 42 m high driving machines were purchased for 1.3 billion forints each. According to managing director Sandor Barkasz, these devices can be used even in difficult conditions on the ground and even during fog storms. Thanks to Dutch innovation, the machines weigh just 120 t compared to 200 t for similar machines from Western competitors.

Market leader in areas

With a machine output of around 1,300 hp, the company is setting new standards in the earth moving industry. Previously, only mining equipment assembled on site was capable of such a feat. By acquiring these technologies, Békés Drén will become the market leader in the main sector in Hungary and neighboring countries. A mobile shipping office was also purchased as well as a security system to monitor the machines. Founded in 1996, Békés Drén Kft is still a 100% Hungarian company. It currently employs 180 people in the fields of hydraulic engineering, environmental protection and special civil engineering, most of them coming from the city and county of Békés.

In 2023, the company achieved net sales of 12.8 billion forints, up from 8.8 billion forints the previous year, and net profit increased from 1.1 billion forints to 2.7 billion forints in that period.
