Weapons cache and dead cat discovered during WEGA operation in Vienna-Floridsdorf

A 27-year-old was arrested during a WEGA operation in Vienna-Floridsdorf on Friday afternoon. Numerous airsoft weapons, ammunition and a dead cat were discovered in his apartment.

On September 27th, around 2 p.m., police officers were called to an apartment in Vienna-Floridsdorf to check on a missing person from the psychiatric ward of a hospital. The 27-year-old was in his apartment, but he didn’t want to open the door to the officers. He also threatened to shoot her if the door was forced open.

Discussions between the negotiating group and the suspect about leaving the apartment voluntarily were unsuccessful. WEGA officers therefore forced open the apartment door and arrested the 27-year-old.

Several soft air weapons and ammunition were found and seized in the apartment. There was already an official weapons ban against the man. There was also a dead cat in one room
found. The suspect was reported on suspicion of resistance to state authority, under the Weapons Act and on suspicion of cruelty to animals and taken to a correctional facility.
