The Empress is shattered. In fact, singer Flore Benguigui announces that she is leaving the group. She even denounces a terrible lack of consideration on the part of the music industry.
It’s official: Flore Benguigui is leaving the ship and leaving the L’Impératrice group disarmed. The singer explained the reasons for her departure in a long message shared on social networks. This decision is the “fruit of long and painful reflection”. Indeed, the artist makes a very bitter observation. She reveals:
“At the end of May 2024, I warned the group that I could no longer continue. That I was going to ensure the release of the album and the summer festival tour which had already begun, but that it was physically and psychologically impossible for me to continue the rest”.
She also claims to have “sounded the alarm several times”. She also talks about “deep personal and artistic disagreements” with the other members of L’Impératrice. However, Flore Benguigui above all wishes to highlight the many problems of the French music industry. She describes it as “toxic” et “unfair especially towards women, towards victims, towards mental health”. According to the artist, this departure is “the only way to protect [sa] health, physical and mental, which has been very seriously undermined in recent years”. She also makes things clear:
“Today I no longer wish to be part of a system that […] prefers to capitalize on the sensitivity of artists”.
But that doesn’t stop him from thanking the teams, the other members of the group, and especially his audience. From now on, she feels ready to pursue her own projects:
“The group will continue without me, and a new singer will replace me in the future”.

What future for the L’Impératrice group?
What will become of The Empress without Flore Benguigui? The announcement of his departure came like a hammer this Thursday, September 26, 2024. On Instagram, the group expressed their dismay: “It is with great sadness that we announce Flore’s departure. […] These nine years together have been filled with unforgettable moments”. It is true that the international success of L’Impératrice is largely due to Flore’s talent. And the group is well aware of this:
“At the very beginning, the music of L’Impératrice was almost exclusively instrumental. Thank you Flore for the voice you were able to give her, and for these magnificent years. You will always be part of the group’s history, and we wish you all the best for the future.”.
Thus, we will meet L’Impératrice during the next date of her world tour, on October 11. The group seems ready to take on “a new artistic challenge” !
