Apple announced the launch of the “Apple Intelligence” feature next October, as it will be gradually available with the iOS 18.1 update. Despite the absence of AI tools at the iPhone 16 launch event in September, this feature will be rolled out in stages starting in October, with more features being introduced through 2025.
What is Apple Intelligence?
Apple Intelligence is not just an operating system or an artificial intelligence model, but a set of generative intelligence tools that help create text and images, and enable actions across apps. This feature will only be available on modern devices such as iPhone 15 Pro and above, as well as iPad and Mac devices with the M1 chip or higher, as they require powerful processors to perform tasks complex to achieve.

Apple designed a new chip for the iPhone 16, the A18 and A18 Pro, to be optimized for running large AI models. These chips offer up to twice the processing speed of machine learning, with improved power efficiency.
Features to come
In October, Apple will start launching new writing tools that will appear wherever text is written, and will help with proofreading, paraphrasing and summarizing texts. This feature will be available first in English (US) with other languages such as British English, Spanish and Chinese being added in 2025.
In apps like Notes and Phone, users are able to record audio, convert it to text, and summarize it. Apple Intelligence will also be able to prioritize messages and provide summaries of the text contained in messages and emails.

Siri will receive significant improvements, becoming more flexible and more natural in interacting with users, with the ability to keep context between different requests. In addition, the usual appearance of Siri on the screen will be replaced by “light edges”. Siri will also have the ability to switch between typing and voice, and will support executing commands within apps.
Showing images and symbols of generation
Later this year, Apple will launch an “Image Playground” tool that allows users to create images in different styles such as animation or graphics. It is also possible to create “Genmojis”, which are custom generation emojis based on text commands. All these images are created locally on the device to ensure privacy protection.
Finally, ChatGPT is expected to be integrated with Siri and writing tools, as Apple ensures that privacy is guaranteed while using these features.
