In Gomel, they installed a “backup” traffic light right on the asphalt of the road. The Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee said that this is an “innovation in the field of road safety”. The “double” indicates actual traffic light markings on a line built into the asphalt.

The traffic light signal was doubled in the stop line at the entrance to the intersection of Kozhara and Mazurov streets in the regional center. “This is the only one in our country, there are no analogues,” sure at the ATC.
They said the purpose of the innovation was to give drivers information about traffic lights when approaching a controlled intersection. For example, if the traffic light is turning red, so will the “sub-learning”.
“In any case, it is installed on each lane, and if only the arrow allows a right turn for drivers, the green signal on the backup signal will be on too,” said Gomel district police.
Earlier, Telegraf.news reported that Minsk State Traffic Inspectors reported the application of “experimental signals” on the capital’s circle. Unusual arrows are supposed to help drivers to properly judge the distance to the vehicle in front. If the experience proves its effectiveness, the signs will appear on other sections of Belarusian roads.
