Energy bank, the “Oasi project” to help the population during the hot summer months

ROMA – Improve the psycho-physical well-being of vulnerable people by creating a cooling center to welcome them, refresh them and offer socio-health services in the hot summer months. It is the goal of Oasis Project that the Italian Red Cross started last August in Opera (Milan metropolitan area) thanks to the support of Southern Milan Area Committee of the CRIas part of a synergy with Energy banka partner of the Association for years in initiatives aimed at vulnerable sections of the population, and of Edison, an energy company with 140 years of history

The objectives of the project. The project has the following objectives: to prevent health problems related to heat and excessive exposure to high temperatures for elderly people, to expand the offer of social and health services in the Southern Milan area for vulnerable people, to increase the awareness of the population on the health risks associated with summer heat, as well as on the issues of energy poverty and the effects of climate change through information campaigns and awareness meetings. During the meeting, the refrigeration device installed at the Southern Milan Area Committee of the CRI will also be shown.

Who will intervene. The meeting will be attended by Luciano Calamaro, Secretary General of the Italian Red Cross, Riccardo De Zottis, President of the Southern Milan Area Committee of the CRI, Silvia Pedrotti, Head of the Banco dell’Energia Foundation, and Barbara Terenghi, Sustainability Director of Edison. Also speaking will be Davide Serranó, Mayor of Locate di Triulzi, Laura De Blasi, Deputy Mayor of Opera, and Vanna Ravazzoli, Councilor for the Environment of Opera.
