More than 11,000 euros in outstanding taxes were collected. A total of 34 companies were checked for proper employment of employees, compliance with the cash register regulations and payment of all taxes. 20 violations of the Working Hours Act were identified. Part-time employees were particularly affected. In addition, two illegally employed foreigners, four illegal workers and three people who had not reported their start of work to the AMS were found, the Federal Ministry of Finance announced. In the case of the latter, there is therefore a suspicion of social benefit fraud, i.e. illegal work while simultaneously receiving social benefits such as minimum security or unemployment benefits.

Regarding the violations discovered

In nine cases the cash registers did not meet the technical requirements. A company also did not comply with the obligation to provide receipts. Almost 11,250 euros in tax debts were collected from two barbershops. “In any case, the financial police’s key action shows once again that the complaints from industry representatives are absolutely justified. The seemingly low prices of some barbershops are made possible by tax evasion and social security fraud to the detriment of the general public,” says Finance Minister Magnus Brunner.
