The Municipality of San Salvador de Jujuy and the Institute of Radiology renew their commitment to the health of Jujuy women through the “Better Together” campaign. Mayor Jorge valued this solidarity initiative, based on an agreement between both institutions, which will allow municipal employees with social work who perform their mammography during October to invite a woman without coverage to access the same study for free.
Mayor Raúl “Chuli” Jorge expressed the importance of this action, “there is an extraordinary will from the professionals of the Institute of Radiology, who with the best technology allow two women, one with social work and the other without coverage, to access the study. This is an opportunity that we must take advantage of, spreading this message and accompanying the entire team that works with so much commitment for society. If we can detect a possible tumor in time, we can save many lives, especially those of our dear women.”
The campaign seeks to encourage early detection, a key factor in the fight against breast cancer. According to Noelia Bohuid, representative of the Institute of Radiology, “one in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, but if we detect it in time, nine out of ten can be cured. Mammography is an indispensable tool that can diagnose a tumor when it is only one millimeter, which is why it is essential to perform this study periodically.”
For his part, the Secretary of Human Development, Rodrigo Altea, emphasized the relevance of these public policies aimed at health promotion and prevention, collaborating with both public and private institutions, “the Institute of Radiology, together with the Municipality, is “They have joined together once again to promote awareness about the importance of timely diagnosis, because we know that arriving on time can save many lives.”
In addition to the medical campaign, the municipality’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, together with the Multipurpose Art Center, will develop a commemorative mural to raise awareness in the community about the importance of prevention. Tomás Bree, coordinator of Sociocultural Policies, highlighted that “art is a powerful tool to dialogue with society and spread important messages such as the prevention of breast cancer.”
The mayor Raúl Jorge participated in the signing ceremony of the agreement; Alfredo Salum and Noelia Bohuid from the Institute of Radiology; the secretaries of Government and Human Development, Ezequiel Aldao Fascio and Rodrigo Altea respectively and the coordinator of Sociocultural Policies, Tomás Bree.
