Mexico City. The National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL) reported that the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) has already authorized the pending payments to 700 teachers who work on a temporary basis in various centers of this institution.
He added that the “involuntary delay,” which led to protests over the past five days, which were joined this week by students, was due to “a new process for authorizing resources that became necessary in response to a new circular from the Ministry of Finance.”
“We regret this incident and the payment will be made shortly to the few people who are yet to receive it,” the authorities said in a statement.
José Guadalupe Rodríguez Ocampo, a teacher at the National School of Classical and Contemporary Dance (ENDCC), said that despite this report, the protests will continue until everyone receives their corresponding payments and their employment status is clarified.
“Certainly some colleagues have already been paid, but there are still some who have not, and there are others who have only received a portion. The problem is that the payment was issued as an extraordinary payment, so there is no certainty that they are hired,” he said.
He added that the union representative was informed by telephone that payments would be made between Friday and next Monday.
“At ENDCC we will continue to strike until all our colleagues receive their salaries and their hiring is certain, until next Monday, September 30.”
He said that this Wednesday they will hold a new artistic demonstration in Cenart Bay, between 9:00 and 17:00, as part of their protests.
