Nicaraguan bank renewed $200 million credit with BCIE – 2024-09-25 16:33:35

The Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN) and the Central American Economic Integration Bank (CABEI) today renewed a credit line agreement for an amount of up to 200 million dollars.

According to a statement from the Nicaraguan financial institution, this amount is to support the liquidity management of the BCN, the institution responsible for the monetary and exchange policy of this Central American nation.

He added that the renewal of the credit line is consistent with the BCN’s objective of strengthening the financial safety net, safeguarding stability and contributing to the credibility of the exchange rate regime, which is essential for the country’s macroeconomic stability.

According to the information released, this is the fifteenth renewal of the credit line agreed with CABEI and is revolving in nature, valid for one year from August 21, 2024.

The BCN subscribed to this instrument for the first time on 21 August 2009.

The financial institution expressed its gratitude for the support of the CABEI, which will contribute to the stability and promotion of economic development in Nicaragua.
