München – The violence just doesn’t stop at the Old Botanical Garden hotspot. The fear zone at the Bavarian Ministry of Justice in Munich has once again become the scene of a crime. On Wednesday morning, a man was brutally beaten by several people. The emergency calls were received at the operations center at around 10:20 a.m.
Officers searched a man near the crime scene. He was arrested.
The victim, a 57-year-old native of Munich, died in hospital from his serious injuries. The Munich Homicide Squad has begun its investigations on site.

The 57-year-old is said to have been attacked by a group of several men. It is still unclear how many struck. According to BILD information, the crime was recorded by newly installed cameras. The police are now publicly searching for the suspected killer using a picture from the surveillance camera. Two other men have been arrested.
No-go area at the Ministry of Justice
In 2023, the police registered in the No-go area of Munich 936 crimes – 790 of them drug-related. In addition, there are 88 physical assaults and 13 sexual offenses. This means that a crime occurs there almost every nine hours – right in front of the eyes of the Bavarian Justice Minister Georg Eisenreich (53, CSU).
Investigators have cordoned off the area
US megastar Taylor Swift (34) recently stayed at the elegant “The Charles Hotel”, which is located directly at the drug hotspot. Hotel manager Florian Steinmaier told BILD: “We reported the issue to those responsible in the city and the Bavarian Interior Ministry four years ago and pointed out the situation.”
Women are groped
“Unfortunately, nothing has been done for a long time and we have watched idly as the Old Botanical Garden has developed into a hotspot,” said Steinmaier. “At least we are working on solutions: trees and bushes are being trimmed, lighting is being improved, cameras are being installed.”
Police Director Sigrid Kienle (48), head of Police Inspectorate 14 (Westend): “This is not a calling card for Munich. The feeling of security among women is significantly affected. It happens that female passers-by are groped.”
