/ world today news/ The government proposes an amendment to the deposit guarantee law, which should reduce the number and amount of deposits of the bankrupt KTB, which will be reimbursed by the fund, “24 Chasa” reports.
The previous text stipulates that deposits with preferential interest on the day the bank’s license is revoked are not subject to refund. However, in the case of KTB, where the conservators reduced all interest rates in the summer, this gives people who used a preferential interest rate the opportunity to claim that their deposits are guaranteed, explained Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov.
The new text stipulates that deposits that had a preferential interest rate on the day the quaesture began will not be paid out. Goranov could not say how this would affect the expected BGN 3.6 billion as the value of the guaranteed deposits.
