Green Bay crushes the Tennessee Titans 30 to 14

Nashville., Malik Willis ran for a touchdown and threw for another in his best NFL performance, leading the Green Bay Packers to a 30-14 rout of the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Not only did Willis win his second straight start in place of Jordan Love, he got sweet revenge against the team that traded him to Green Bay (2-1) in August. Willis accounted for 134 of the Packers’ 137 yards in the first quarter. He finished with 202 yards passing and 73 rushing.

Cornerback Jaire Alexander scored on his first career pick-6 late in the first quarter, helping Green Bay take a 17-7 lead after 15 minutes. The Packers led 20-7 at halftime and reeled off 20 straight points to go ahead 27-7 midway through the third quarter, prompting a resounding “Go, Pack, Go!”

Green Bay had eight sacks, its most since having eight against Chicago on Jan. 2, 2005. It also forced three turnovers.

First-year coach Brian Callahan has the Titans (0-3) off to their worst start since losing their first six in 2009. Tennessee, which obtained a seventh-round draft pick for Willis after trading away Liberty’s 2022 third-rounder, has lost 21 of 27 games overall.

Pittsburgh remains undefeated

Justin Fields threw for a touchdown, ran for another and the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Los Angeles Chargers 20-10 on Sunday.

Pittsburgh improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2020 behind another efficient performance from Fields, who completed 25 of 32 passes for 245 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown pass to Calvin Austin III midway through the fourth quarter that opened the scoring.

Fields also added a 5-yard touchdown run and is quietly emerging as the starting quarterback even after Russell Wilson’s injured calf heals. Fields has played nearly error-free through three games, though he did throw his first interception of the season in the third quarter.

Najee Harris ran for 70 yards, Chris Boswell kicked a pair of field goals and Pittsburgh’s defense racked up five sacks to hand the Chargers (2-1) their first loss.

Justin Herbert started with a sore right ankle and completed 12 of 18 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown before aggravating the injury midway through the third quarter. He was replaced by Taylor Heinicke.

The Steelers outscored Los Angeles 346-168 and held the ball for more than 33 minutes, with the Chargers fading in the final minutes as their franchise quarterback watched from the sidelines.

Denver gets its first win

Rookie Bo Nix scored an early touchdown in the end zone and Will Lutz kicked four field goals Sunday to help the Denver Broncos avoid an 0-3 start for a second straight season with a 26-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Nix completed 25 of 36 passes for 216 yards without an interception. However, the 12th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft has yet to throw for a touchdown in three games.

Denver’s defense also helped Nix bounce back from the struggles of the previous two weeks, sacking Baker Mayfield seven times and intercepting the Bucs quarterback once in the second quarter. The Broncos (1-2) also turned away two Tampa Bay possessions deep in Denver territory in the fourth quarter, stopping one drive on downs and forcing a fumble on the other.

The Buccaneers (2-1), three-time defending NFC South champions looking to start a season with three straight wins for the first time since 2005, were limited to 223 yards of total offense. Mayfield completed 25 of 33 passes for 163 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown pass to Chris Godwin in the second quarter.
