Specifically, in a statement of the Press Office of New Democracy it is stated that “by decision of the Secretary of the Political Committee of New Democracy Maria Syregela, Mr. Marios Salmas is removed from the membership of the party”.
A little earlier, the former member of the ruling party said from the floor of the Parliament that “if Mr. Mitsotakis deletes me because I reacted to the properties that are lost due to bad loans, because I opposed the same-sex couple walk agenda, because I asked him to check the cartel to be exact, then it’s my honor. If he deletes me because I pointed out to him the need to turn to the many, then it is my honor. But if he does it to send a message to others, it is unacceptable.”
At the same time, he added that “if it is used as a pretext that in his presence and also in the Parliament I institutionally highlighted a photography competition of the Ministry of Culture that was scandalously awarded to a company, without competition and at the minimum price, then let me state and remind that the control of the ministers by the parliamentarians and the unrestricted freedom of speech is constitutionally guaranteed and in no case constitutes a reason for deletion”.
Marinakis: The deletion is self-evident”
In a related question, Pavlos Marinakis said at the political editors’ briefing that “I saw Mr. Salma’s statements, he is making an effort after the self-evident decision to present himself as a hero. It was not only Salmas who did not vote in favor of the bill. And others criticize and are members of the ND. On red loans, Mr. Salmas asked a question with other MPs and it was answered immediately. With Mr. Salmas trying to say that he was deleted because of the question, I think it is something that reality solemnly attributes.”
At the same time, he added that “Mr. Salmas was deleted because he continued to reproduce slanderous statements at the time he had asked a question on June 25. His question on 28 June was answered, and on 3 July he was given documents. We are in a faction that respects institutions. If there is something to go to Justice, not to take the channels. As soon as he continues something that has been answered it is an attitude that raises reasonable questions. It was a self-evident and unanimous decision and we are moving on. It is unfair to link a write-off with a bad loan bill.”
Salmas has been a foreign body for a long time
It is recalled that after the letter of Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the president of the Ethics Committee of the ND. Ioannis Tragakis on Saturday (21/9), who called for the removal of Marios Salmas, circles of Maximos said that the prime minister’s move was expected, as for a long time the MP of Etoloakarnania was considered a “foreign body”.
Apart from the complaints about “photographic” contests by the Ministries of Culture and Health regarding the canteens of the ministries, Kyriakos Mitsotakis had also “set his sights” on him since the meeting of the blue KO (26/6) after the negative result of the European elections . Then Marios Salmas had told Kyriakos Mitsotakis that “you represent the few” and that the “staff state is you and your company”.
Finally, it is noted that the deputy of Etoloakarnania did not surrender his seat to the blue party, with many waiting for his next moves.
