/ world today news/ More than 700 socialists and sympathizers of the left took part in a spectacular procession for the 9th of September in Vidin on Friday evening. The column was led by the people’s representative from BSP LEFT BULGARIA Mihail Mikov and the regional chairman of BSP Dimitar Velkov. To the sounds of marches played by the City Brass Band, the procession made its way from the party headquarters through the city park to the Freedom Monument, where flowers were laid in front of the sculptural monuments.
“Yesterday I spoke with Comrade Angel Wagenstein. On September 8, 1944, he was released as a mortal from the Sliven prison. A day that means life for him, because on the evening of September 8, the prisoners sentenced to death were released from the Sliven prison. They are part of that ten-year struggle for a better and free life, they are part of that anti-fascist resistance of the Bulgarian people, of the most awake children of the Bulgarian people, who, together with the participation of the Bulgarians in the second phase of the Second Patriotic War, did so , that Bulgaria does not lose territories”, recalled Mikov. In the words of the socialist, all those who try to erase September 9, those who, every time the monuments here are cleaned, show how much they can respect the history of Bulgaria, not only the BSP – they should all know that Bulgaria is within these limits because there was anti-fascist resistance.
“September 9th opened the way for the development of Bulgaria, gave immense opportunities for access to education, health care and cultural upsurge, and all this on the basis of an economic development that turned the country from an agricultural country into a modern industrial country”, he said in his speech Mikhail Mikov.
“Stefan Hessel’s Call to ‘Outrage!’ is increasingly relevant today in Bulgaria and we can show our indignation on November 6 by going out and voting to say “No” to today’s retrograde government”, said the regional chairman of the BSP, Dimitar Velkov. The chairman of the Bulgarian Anti-Fascist Union – Vidin, Vladimir Ivanov, and Nadezhda Gazheva from the movement of veterans in the BSP also spoke.
The celebration ended with a concert by a folklore children’s group from the city of Lom.
