Düsseldorf trial: knife attack in homeless shelter – Rhineland – News

Almost two and a half months ago, the 40-year-old Düsseldorf resident is said to have attacked two employees of the homeless assistance organization “Horizont” in Düsseldorf with a knife. He is accused of attempted murder and two counts of bodily harm. According to the prosecution, he was a regular guest at the day care center.

The man is said to have attacked the two women with a knife and seriously injured them. The 63-year-old head of the day care center was in critical condition for a time. The 61-year-old kitchen assistant was saved by emergency surgery.

The man is said to have stabbed her because he was getting impatient. Apparently, the 40-year-old had come to the facility that morning because he wanted to complain. When the manager asked him to be patient, he is said to have suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed the 63-year-old. He is said to have then hit her while she was already lying on the ground.

If convicted, the 40-year-old faces several years in prison. A life sentence is also possible. Seven days of hearings are planned for the trial until November 21.
