Linkin Park uses the time before their only concert in Germany to visit the Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg. There, a surprise awaits the musicians.
There was no sign of starry airs during this celebrity visit: the band Linkin Park visited the Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt on Saturday afternoon during regular opening hours.
Singer Mike Shinoda and bassist Dave Farrell and their families spent almost three hours looking at the huge model building world, says Niklas Weissleder from the Wunderland team. “It was a really pleasant visit,” he tells t-online. “The two of them were totally down-to-earth, calm and relaxed.”
The musicians were “totally blown away” by the world’s largest model railway, says Weissleder, who was there during the visit. The prominent visitors were particularly on the lookout for the small figure of band member Mike Shinoda, which has recently been on display in the Hamburg section. Wunderland included the figure in its program as a promotional campaign in preparation for the performance. Shinoda, on a scale of 1:87, is creating a graffiti in the style of the cover of the current Linkin Park single “The Emptiness Machine”. “They were totally thrilled,” says Wunderland employee Weissleder. “The visit was a great honor for us as a team.”
Before the concert, the Miniatur Wunderland organized a scavenger hunt on social media for Linkin Park fans. On Friday, the team hid the figure of Mike Shinoda in the “real, big” Speicherstadt. Whoever found it first won two tickets for the long-sold-out concert on Sunday.
