During this meeting, held under the theme “Partnership for Atlantic Cooperation”, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, presented the ambitious royal cooperation initiative which aims, he said, to promote peace, stability and shared prosperity in the Africa-Atlantic region. .
The aim of the royal campaign is to allow African countries to take ownership of their development process, he said, remembering that the Atlantic coast is made up of 23 countries, it is home to 70 % of the population, and represents 40% of the international. – African trade.
This sector is facing huge challenges, full of potential and opportunities in key sectors such as tourism and mineral resources. Terrorism, climate change, maritime insecurity and overfishing are causes of instability in the region, said Mr. Bourita at this meeting in the presence of several other ministers from both sides of the Atlantic.
The Moroccan official, who welcomed the many important steps taken by the Atlantic African countries to strengthen the cooperation framework of the campaign, recalled that a secretariat was established in Rabat, an action program was adopted hand and the Forum of Ministers of Justice was created. .
In this context, he noted that action plans from the three thematic groups, which include concrete actions in the areas of security, blue economy, connectivity, energy and climate change, will be developed at a future ministerial meeting of these States.
Mr. Bourita also welcomed the spirit of cooperation in each region of the Atlantic, both in the South and the North, noting that the Atlantic African States Process, as an expression of the African vision for collaboration for this space, committed to strengthening partnerships with other initiatives to create a sustainable, prosperous and resilient Atlantic region. Morocco firmly believes that a strong and mutually beneficial partnership is essential to support the achievement of common goals through effective means of cooperation, he stressed.
