Bulgaria is crowded with refugees – 2024-09-23 20:33:51

/ world today news/ The situation with the migrant pressure on Bulgaria has reached a critical moment. The accommodation centers for foreigners seeking protection in Bulgaria have reached their reception limit. This was stated by sources from the State Agency for Refugees at the Council of Ministers.

The information is also confirmed by the regular report of the Ministry of the Interior on the migrant pressure, according to which as of September 22, 2016, the refugee centers were filled to 98%. To date, the remaining 102 vacancies have already been filled. It is about a total of 5,190 people, which was the capacity of the DAB to accommodate until now.

The Ministry of the Interior reports a certain decrease in migrant pressure for the period September 15-22. For the specified period, 485 foreigners were detained, compared to 643 persons for the previous week. Thus, the total number of migrants from the beginning of the year to September 22, who have settled on Bulgarian territory, reached 14,132 persons. Of the migrants detained last week, 231 were established on the territory of the country, i.e. having penetrated mainly from Turkey.

113 migrants were caught after they could not cross into Serbian territory, and 141 while trying to enter Bulgaria, mainly from Turkey. The state of emergency continues in the accommodation centers for migrants who are subject to verification and determination of nationality or pose a security threat. The occupancy of the centers belonging to the Migration Directorate is 170% or 1597 persons with a capacity of 940 persons. 311 foreign citizens who have sought protection have so far announced that they will settle at external addresses at their own expense.

We remind you that the DAB and the Ministry of the Interior announced that due to the continuing migrant pressure and the increasing number of foreign citizens settling in Bulgaria, urgent measures are being taken to expand the capacity of the refugee centers.
