Philadelphia Union defeated DC United 4-0 at Subaru Park in a direct fight for qualification to the Major League Soccer playoffs.
A resounding 4-0 victory over DC United gives a glimmer of hope to the Philadelphia Union’s project, which aims to achieve its goal of reaching the playoffs in the coming weeks.
Playing at home, they managed to impose conditions from the first minutes and by the 16th minute they were already winning 2-0.
Mikael Uhre scored his 10th goal of the season and Daniel Gazdag scored the first of two goals that would move him into a tie for second place on the scoring charts with 17.
Early in the second half Tai Baribo joined the list of scorers.
This result leaves Philadelphia Union with 36 points in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, last in the standings, displacing CF Montreal.
DC United remain hopeful of qualifying despite the defeat, three points behind eighth-place Toronto FC.
