A gas leak in Grenoble is causing road disruption

This past Monday morning, traffic was seriously disrupted in Grenoble (Isère) between 5am and 8:15am on Boulevard Jean Pain. It was a gas leak that required the intervention of around thirty firefighters.

As pointed out by our colleagues from Blue Francetraffic was completely cut off in both directions, and pedestrian access was restricted. A ceremony was opened in Grenoble Town Hall.

Damaged gas line

According to the firefighters, who started the intervention around 2 am, this gas leak was caused by an electrical cable that overheated and damaged a pipe. gas. It was decided not to evacuate homes in the same area, but safety checks were carried out to ensure no risks were taken.

Traffic was able to resume around 8 a.m., but it’s obviously complicated for a good part of the day. This incident affects two tram lines: line A and line C. Residents are therefore invited to avoid the area until everything returns to normal and to obtain information about networks the city’s social media for all real-time information.
