SEATTLE (AP) — Geno Smith threw for 289 yards, including a 71-yard touchdown pass to DK Metcalf, Zach Charbonnet ran for two scores and the Seattle Seahawks beat the Miami Dolphins 24-3 on Sunday as attention focused on yet another injury to a Dolphins quarterback.
A week after missing Tua Tagovailoa with a third concussion in the past two years, the Dolphins saw Skylar Thompson suffer a chest injury in the second half, leaving Tim Boyle to try to rally from a 17-3 deficit.
Boyle was unable to direct the comeback and the Dolphins (1-2) find themselves in the midst of an uncertain situation at quarterback.
Thompson was injured in the third quarter while lying on the field after being tackled by Dre’Mont Jones after throwing a pass to De’Von Achane. But the injury appears to have occurred on the previous drive, when Thompson was sacked by Tyrel Dodson while running out of bounds.
Thompson completed 13 of 19 passes for 107 yards before leaving the game. He was also sacked five times behind the line of scrimmage.
Tagovailoa traveled to Seattle a week after suffering a concussion against the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 12.
