You can set up an iPhone as a dedicated Continuity camera, which will automatically turn on when you use FaceTime or compatible video conferencing apps on Apple TV. When you make an iPhone a dedicated camera, Apple TV has access to that iPhone’s camera, microphone, and FaceTime favorites.
Once you set up an iPhone as a dedicated camera, only contacts added to favorites in the Phone app on the iPhone can be reached via FaceTime from Apple TV.
Noticed : Any user signed in to Apple TV as an active user can answer FaceTime calls to a dedicated camera.
-
Go to Settings on Apple TV.
-
Navigate to Remotes & Devices > Dedicated Camera, select your user profile, then follow the on-screen prompts to confirm on your iPhone.
-
Make sure your iPhone is plugged into a power source, then place your iPhone near the TV in landscape mode so that the rear camera is facing you and your image looks good in the preview on your TV screen.
You can also press on your remote to skip this step.
After a quick countdown, your iPhone camera is ready to use on Apple TV.
-
If you want to use FaceTime but haven’t set up your Favorites list yet, open the Phone app on iPhone, tap Favorites, tap choose a contact, tap Video, tap FaceTime, then tap a communication method.
If you want to edit your favorites later on iPhone, tap Edit Favorites on the Lock screen, or Edit in the Favorites tab of the Phone app.
-
To pause or disconnect your iPhone camera, do either of the following:
-
On Apple TV, go to Settings then go to Remotes & Devices > Dedicated Camera, and select Disconnect.
