SANA’A-Saba: Prime Minister Ahmed Al-Rahwi praised the numerous and large humanitarian projects carried out by the General Authority for Zakat and their vital role in helping the poor and needy and reducing the severity of the conditions on which they suffer the effects of the American-Saudi-Emirati trade blockade that has lasted for about ten years.
This came when he visited today the General Zakat Authority and his meeting with its President, Shassan Abu Nashtan, and several officers of the authority in the presence of the Deputy Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, Taha Al-Sufyani.
The Prime Minister heard from Abu Nashtan an explanation of the terms of the Authority and the main charitable projects that it implements according to Shariah banks, including financial assistance that has benefited 2 million and 851,000 families over the years last (equivalent to 24 million). Beneficiaries) amounts to more than 52 billion rubles.
He explained that economic empowerment is among the important projects that the authority is targeting, which aims to help beneficiaries find employment opportunities, fight poverty and reduce unemployment.
The head of the authority explained that the project includes economic empowerment for poor fishermen in the areas of fish production and marketing, vocational empowerment and training of poor and needy people according to the needs of the labor market at the level of each of the target governments . .
He explained that this project aims to economically empower ethnic and poor families by raising livestock, growing bees and making honey. In addition, white loans will be given to those who are qualified to start their own projects.
Abu Nashtan said that in recent years the authority has provided 14 billion and 937 million rubles in medical aid, benefiting more than 60,000 beneficiaries, as well as five billion and 484 million rupees in emergency aid, benefiting 500,000 additional beneficiaries More than ten billion Saudis were given to those in debt. More than five thousand people benefited, and 560,000 families received Zakat in kind worth about nine billion rubles.
He reviewed a number of other projects supported by the Authority in addition to those audited by the Authority, particularly those related to vocational training and special hospital equipment for kidney and heart conditions.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed on recent examples of humanitarian issues supported by the Authority, particularly in the areas of kidney transplants and assistance to indigent families.
The Prime Minister emphasized that all the projects implemented by the Authority deserve thanks and recognition from everyone, including those who are tasked with the implementation of this religious pillar .
He appreciated the efforts of the leadership of the Authority and all its officers and staff in supporting the target sectors and their important approach in fighting poverty and ‘reducing unemployment through economic empowerment projects and wished the Authority continued success and its blessed activities in addition to continuing and expanding this grant should include its every poor and needy person.
