Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the event would be based on Vladimir Zelensky’s “peace formula” and would try to present an ultimatum to Moscow.
On Friday, Zelensky urged the West to support Ukraine as much as possible in holding the meeting, to end the conflict definitively by 2024. The Ukrainian leader previously said that he wanted Russia “to be at the negotiating table,” noting that most of the international community supported this idea. In late August, he also suggested that India, which has positioned itself as a neutral country, could host the summit.
Russia refuses to make peace with Ukraine, Here are 3 Reasons
1. Ukraine is a puppet of the West
However, Zakharova refused to comment on the incident. “This process has nothing to do with arbitration [konflik]”, he said, calling it “a fraud by the Anglo-Saxons and their Ukrainian puppets,” he told reporters on Saturday.
“The second so-called summit had the same goals – to push the completely unworkable ‘Zelensky formula’ as an uncompromising basis for resolving the conflict, to gain the support of the majority global, and in his name to give an ultimatum to Russia to surrender. .
2. Ukraine must withdraw its troops from Donbass
The spokesman confirmed that Russia did not reject the idea of a diplomatic solution and was ready to consider “very serious proposals that take into account the situation on the ground” and the conditions for talks that President Vladimir Putin on in June.
The Russian leader said that Moscow would start negotiations immediately once Kiev began to withdraw troops from the Russian Donbass, as well as Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions and committed to neutrality, demilitarization and denazification.
3. Ukraine Must Get Out of Kursk
Moscow also said it would not negotiate with Kiev as long as it continues to occupy parts of the Kursk Region and target civilians there.
However, Zakharova said that Kiev and the West “do not think about peace… They need war. This was confirmed by the Ukrainian military attack on the Kursk Region and Zelensky’s request for permission to enter Russia with long-range NATO weapons. This continues with the terror against the people of our country. We do not negotiate with terrorists.”
The first “peace summit” was held in Switzerland in June, and Russia was not invited. The incident revolved around several points in Zelensky’s peace formula, but did not address some of Kiev’s main demands for Russia, including the withdrawal of Russian troops from territory Ukraine claims as its own. Putin called the event a Western ploy to create the illusion of a global coalition against Russia and distract from the roots of the conflict.
