“I plan to go to New York (United Nations/UN headquarters) as part of Lebanon’s diplomatic efforts during the UN General Assembly to stop Israel’s aggression against Lebanon and the killings it has committed the enemy,” said Mikati, quoted from Anadolu Agency.
“With the developments regarding Israel’s attack against Lebanon, I have canceled my travel plans. Right now there is no priority other than stopping the murders and the various types of wars carried out by our enemy Israel,” he repeated.
In addition, Mikati called on “the international community and humanity to take a clear position regarding this terrible murder and apply international law to protect civilian technological resources from being targeted.” “
Meanwhile, this past Sunday, Israel and Hezbollah exchanged gunfire. Israeli planes carried out the heaviest bombing in almost a year of conflict in southern Lebanon and Hezbollah fired rockets deep into northern Israel.
Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, said attacks would continue until it was safe for people evacuated in the north to return. This sparked a long conflict as Hezbollah had vowed to continue fighting until a ceasefire in a parallel war in Gaza.
On Saturday, the Israeli military said it hit 290 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, including the militia’s rocket launcher sites.
