Stretchers to the bone at Ruggi in Salerno, ambulance stopped for 19 hours

Blocked for almost 19 ore at the doors of the emergency room of a hospital. In all likelihood it is a record, the one achieved by the unfortunate 118 operators of an ambulance that arrived from Battipagliaforced to wait interminably at the foot of the Roars of Salerno from 9pm on Thursday evening to 3:30pm yesterday. The reason is incredible: in the emergency department of the hospital in via San Leonardo there were not enough stretchers. And so an unfortunate 47 years old from Montecorvino Puglianowho was also transported to the hospital in Salerno under red code, remained lying on the stretcher of the ambulance, borrowed from the emergency room workers, until, at 3.30 pm yesterday, it was finally possible to admit him to a ward.

The ordeal

When, in the afternoon, the exhausted operators finally left St. Leonard Streetin line in front of the emergency room there were nine ambulances. The odyssey of the man from Puglia began shortly after 8 pm on Thursday evening: it was an epileptic patient who had suspended therapy and who suddenly collapsed. The request for help was immediately made to 118: a medical car intervened on the spot Bridgecagnano Faiano. The paramedics who intervened in the Picentino municipality found the man in a soporific state: he was in very serious condition. Hence the request for a vehicle to transport the unfortunate man to the Ruggi hospital in Salerno, as ordered by the 118 operations center.
