Attijariwafa Bank marked a milestone in its commitment to the energy transition with the launch of the first Moroccan investment fund dedicated to energy efficiency projects, the African Energy Efficiency Fund (FAEE). This event brought together more than 120 participants from institutional and corporate spheres, as well as large African companies, in partnership with Econoler, a world leader in the field of energy efficiency consulting services.
Under the theme “Financial Innovations for a Sustainable Energy Transition in Africa”, the FAEE positions itself as a strategic lever to catalyze innovative energy efficiency projects across the African continent. Attijariwafa Bank, through this fund, seeks to promote responsible financial practices and investments with a significant environmental and social impact.
The event also featured an expert panel, moderated by Abdelaziz Lahlou, Director of Economics at Attijari Global Research. Speakers included leaders in green finance, such as Pierre Langlois, President of Econoler, and Youssef El Fath, Director of Industry at VINCI Energies West Africa, who addressed the technical, financial and regulatory challenges of energy efficiency projects in Africa. They shared their feedback and international best practices for adapting these models to local realities.
In his speech, Mr. Youssef Rouissi, Deputy Managing Director in charge of the Corporate and Investment Banking division of Attijariwafa Bank, stressed the importance of the private sector in accelerating the energy transition. “The FAEE aims to support and accelerate the energy transition and decarbonization of Moroccan and African companies, by offering them a complete and turnkey solution,” he said.
The launch of the “FAEE” by Attijariwafa Bank in collaboration with Econoler is part of a dynamic of sustainable development and social responsibility in Africa. This investment fund represents a significant step forward for the energy transition on the continent, paving the way for innovative projects and a greener energy future, particularly for Morocco.
