/ world today news/ When your sovereignty is on paper (again, good, because that is the last thing, after which you drop out of history), your sky is “guarded” by foreign planes (Turkish, Polish, American), for which you pay, and sometimes and for free (how partner-like it sounds), your land is sold to foreigners and settled with those with anti-European behavior (reference: the military operation called “refugee wave”, and for the more impressionable and fatalistic-thinking – “new great peoples race” , but in fact – a controlled human flow with channelers, gray infrastructure, with impunity outside the legal field, and with predictable catastrophic consequences. When foreign embassies, commissioners, secretaries (more so their deputies) dictate your foreign and domestic policy in a media environment that is comfortable for them bricklayers, convinced as “democrats” – then you are a state in bankruptcy, close to a “failed state” (failed state).
After the sabotage of Irina Bokova’s candidacy for gen. secretary of the UN, worthy and profitable with a high probability of success, and the elevation of commissioner Kristalina Georgieva, who has no chance of victory, the government is frankly signing up to a predicted loss, which is national, for Bulgaria. The reason is geopolitical – Russia and China support I. Bokova. The USA does not have a worthy competitor and is betting on the sure thing – the Bulgarian government will only fail with a “new” election with a foretold loss, but the loss is for Bulgaria, the USA wins.
We lost “Belene” (Wikileaks reference, Hillary Clinton’s correspondence with Nikolay Mladenov – fresh reports on an anti-Bulgarian decision). Of course, there are no illusions about the funds sunk in the “Belene project”, that corruption lives when it is legitimate, but it becomes a convenient geopolitical lever for management from the outside. We lost South Stream – on the latter I still think it prevents a military escalation we can’t afford (ref: the Turkish civil war, the Middle East reformatting by way of pipes you have to have an army behind). We are losing our border, we are losing (losing) our people. This is fact, not dramatic European pathos in the style of Michel Welbeck.
Legally, however, the Bulgarian government is responsible, not the “partners” (they influence, they influence harshly, but the final decision, and hence the responsibility, is Bulgarian. Do not be fooled and fall asleep with the whining that befits a colonial guarded administration: “we can’t do anything to do, we are between two great powers”.
The most accurate term for our current state is not even “failed state”, but failed colony. A failed colony, but with an unfailing people – still.
