The Lebanese Resistance (Hezbollah) announced on Friday the death of commander Ibrahim Aqil (Hajj Abdul Qader), as a result of an Israeli attack on a residential building in the southern suburbs of the capital.
In a statement, the political and military movement pledged to remain loyal to its goals, hopes and path to victory.
Hezbollah highlighted the life of struggle, work, wounds, sacrifices, risks, challenges, achievements and victories of Hajj Abdul Qader, whom it declared a martyr on the road to the liberation of Al-Quds (Jerusalem).
Born in Bednayel (Bekaa) in 1962, he was part of the founding generation of Islamic Work in Beirut and was one of the heroic commanders during the confrontation against the Israeli invasion in the early 1980s.
In the early 1990s, he assumed responsibility for central training in Hezbollah and played a pivotal role in developing human capabilities in resistance formations.
As reported by Hizbullah, in the mid-1990s, he assumed the role of Chief of Staff of the Resistance and headed the Jabel Amel Operations Unit from 1997 until after liberation, directly guiding many qualitative operations during that period.
He founded the Resistance Operations Department and since 2008 has served as deputy secretary general for operational affairs and was appointed a member of the Jihadist Council.
Hajj Abul Qader was one of the leaders of the victory against the Israeli aggression on Lebanon in 2006 and oversaw the establishment, development and leadership of the Radwan Force, the elite troops within the Resistance.
The commander planned and led operations against Takfiri groups on Lebanon’s eastern borders, in Qusayr, Qalamoun and other areas of Syria.
Since the beginning of the Palestinian battle Al-Aqsa Flood, Hajj Abdul Qader planned and supervised the leadership of the Radwan Force military operations on the Lebanese support front.
On Friday, an Israeli attack on a residential building in the southern suburbs of Beirut left Commander Ibrahim Aqil dead and 13 others, including children, as well as more than 60 wounded.
