History of Discovery of 7 bodies in Bekasi River that shocked residents

Residents of Jatiasih were shocked when seven bodies were found in Bekasi River, Kota Bekasi. All the bodies were evacuated to Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta.

Senior officer (Kalak) of Bekasi City BPBD, Priadi Santoso, said that residents reported the discovery of the body at 07.00 WIB. The place is on the Bekasi River, just behind the Al Ikhlas Mosque, one of the housing buildings in Jatirasa, Jatiasih.

First, two witnesses were walking near the Al-Ikhlas Mosque and met members of the cat community. Members of the cat community were looking for a lost cat near the river and found a body floating.

“Witness 2 (two) looked at the river and found that 5 (five) bodies had indeed been found, then witness 2 told witness 1 (one), who described 1 (one) evidence immediately to Jatiasih Police, Koramil, and BNPB ,” explained Priadi, in his statement, Sunday (22/9/2024).

After finding five bodies, two more bodies were found in the same place. BPBD officials are still working at the plant.

“Currently the BPBD team is still waiting in the river at the foot of the Kemang Pratama bridge, to guard against the possibility that victims could be carried away by the current in the Bekasi River,” he said.
