President Gabriel Boric will travel this Sunday to New York, United States, where he will have a busy agenda that will include his speech at the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) and various meetings with world leaders.

Boric will take part on Monday in the ‘Future Conference’, which, according to a statement from the President, “will aim to create a new international consensus on global challenges, such as peace and security, inclusive sustainable development and human rights.”

Afterwards, the president will meet the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the secretary general of the United Nations, António Guterres.

Boric will intervene at the UN and meet with leaders

On Tuesday, the head of state will participate in the opening of the 79th UN General Assembly, where he will “promote multilateralism, democracy and human rights,” the Government said.

Then, he led a meeting to promote the ratification of the ‘Agreement on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biodiversity in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction’, known as the BBNJ Agreement.

“The event, organized by Chile, seeks to discuss ways to implement the agreement in a timely manner, as well as the role that could and should be played by the private sector and representatives or – another state to be in his application, “shows the statement of the Government. .

Later, Boric will participate in the summit called by the presidents of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, against terrorism, inequality, misinformation and threats to democratic institutions .

The president’s agenda will end on Wednesday, September 25, with a speech at the ‘World Leaders Forum’ at Columbia University to discuss democracy and human rights in Latin America.
