Oktoberfest fans have been waiting since the early hours of the morning for the moment of admission. When the time finally comes, all the dams break and the visitors storm the festival grounds. Videos show the chaotic moment.
At exactly 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, security forces opened the entrances to the Oktoberfest, and the first Wiesn fans immediately rushed towards the coveted beer tents. More visitors crowded in from all sides, mostly dressed in traditional dirndls and lederhosen.
Oktoberfest visitors had been waiting since early morning
According to reports, the entry controls went smoothly. Visitors were able to get to the tents without any major delays. With bright sunshine and a picturesque white-blue sky, the weather in Munich promises a wonderful first day of the Oktoberfest. Some guests had already gathered early in the morning, equipped with blankets, thermos flasks and coffee or even beer. But the Oktoberfest guests still have to wait until 12:00 p.m. before they can enjoy their first beer in the festival tent.
At exactly 12:00 noon, the mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) will tap the first barrel of beer and officially open the festival. Only after the traditional toast with Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) will the beer flow to the visitors. A total of around six million guests from all over the world are expected at the Oktoberfest in Munich by October 6th.
