On Friday, the Frankfurt am Main regional court sentenced a 28-year-old to a suspended sentence of two years for, among other things, the illegal possession of military weapons. However, the accusation of planning a right-wing extremist attack could not be proven in the proceedings, as a court spokesman announced. He was not convicted for this.
The court found it proven that the 27-year-old had illegally obtained several firearms and partially functional explosive devices from disused Wehrmacht ammunition depots. He stored these in his own weapons depots at various locations.
During a search, various Nazi memorabilia were found, including a submachine gun, a US aerial bomb and a cluster bomb. The cluster bomb had to be blown up on site in a residential area because it could not be secured.
The public prosecutor also charged the man with planning a right-wing extremist attack, but this was not proven in the trial. According to the accusation, he is said to have planned the overthrow of the basic democratic order in Germany by April 2023.
He had planned to use armed force to fight groups he did not like on an unspecified so-called Day X. The targets of the attack were Muslims, Jews, Green politicians and people from the LGBTQ movement.
