Hape Kerkeling can’t believe it – does he have royal blood?

He is one of the most successful actors and comedians in the country and has been known for generations. Hape Kerkeling also delighted fans with his book “Ich bin dann mal weg” (I’m off now), in which he tells of his pilgrimage.

Recently, however, the television star has devoted himself to a topic that has nothing to do with his television career. Hape Kerkeling has been doing research into his ancestry and has come across an unbelievable secret.

Is Hape Kerkeling the great-grandson of King Edward of England?

When Hape Kerkeling was unable to implement any projects during the Corona period, he put another plan into action. The actor had a DNA test carried out. The result surprised the TV star: Kerkeling has Dutch, British, Polish and Italian roots! This information aroused his curiosity and the 59-year-old went in search of clues.

When he suddenly received a letter from a woman from his grandmother’s Bohemian hometown, Hape Kerkeling could hardly believe it. The woman told the actor that his grandmother Bertha was an illegitimate daughter of the English King Edward VII. This would make Kerkeling the king’s great-grandson. And apparently there are even more secrets that the TV star doesn’t know about his ancestry.

This new information from his grandmother’s acquaintance surprised Hape Kerkeling, as the comedian actually had a very close relationship with his grandmother. After all, the actor grew up partly with his beloved grandmother. However, Kerkeling has not yet been able to find out any further information about his ancestry.

“Incredible secret”

However, fans of the television legend can look forward to further insights into the life of Hape Kerkeling, as his new book entitled “Give me some time: My chronicle of events – bestselling author Hape Kerkeling on his life and the eventful history of his family and ancestors” will be published on September 25th. In the non-fiction book, the comedian writes, among other things, about his childhood and about the “incredible secret” of his grandmother Bertha, which he discovered.

Whether the actor is actually of royal descent remains to be proven. The clues from his grandmother Bertha’s acquaintances certainly seem to be keeping the comedian on his toes.
