Actor Daniel Fanego dies at 69

The renowned actor Daniel Fanego died this Thursday, September 19. The news was confirmed by the Argentine Actors Association through its official X account, in a heartfelt message“It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to our member and former union leader, actor and director Daniel Fanego. With extensive experience in theatre, television and film, he was one of the most beloved and award-winning actors of his generation. We send our most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones, accompanying them in this difficult time,” says the text that received dozens of responses in just a few minutes.

It was also reported that the actor’s farewell will take place on Friday 20th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Legislature of Buenos Aires, located at Avenida Presidente Julio A. Roca 575 in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. According to his son Manuel, the actor passed away at home, “surrounded by the love of family and friends, absolutely at peace.”

Born on March 30, 1955, before dedicating himself fully to acting, Fanego almost completed his law degree, but at the age of 23 he decided that he should follow his deepest desire and went on stage, the place he preferred above all others. He debuted, like Carlos Calvo, Alicia Aller and other actors of his generation, in a controversial play that became a classic of the Buenos Aires scene: The anatomy lessonin 1977. But beyond his extensive career on stage, television was quick to add him to its ranks, first as a “heartthrob” and then as the star of soap operas, to which he lent his porteño stamp. Thanks to his talent, he received numerous awards. Not even during his days as a leading man did he allow his private life to become a public issue.
