Another case of gruesome domestic violence has sparked outrage across the country. A wife and mother of three children was literally mutilated – with two broken arms, an ovary removed, a broken mouth, drowned in a water bottle, beaten with a shovel and a whip, after her husband beat her for 3 hours out of jealousy in front of their children in Chelopech, reports NOVA. The rapist was detained three days after the beating.
“I will always remember that day. A three-hour beating… I only told him: ‘I’m dying’. And he replied: ‘Die, die’! I looked at the children and said to myself: ‘The end is coming, what about my children?’
The police did not say that they would arrest my husband, they spoke as if they were friends,” recalls Rosa, who knows that she is living a second life – with an ovary removed, two broken arms and a broken mouth.
They had been together with the abuser for eight years. She ran away and returned because of their three children, writes dir.bg.
“On the fateful evening, he came home, looked at me and smashed my mouth with the phone. I just didn’t understand what happened, I asked why he was hitting me. He continued to beat me on the face and on the head. And when there was nothing left of the phone, he threw it away “He knocked me to the ground and started kicking me in the back, stomach and other places. This happened in front of the children,” says Rosa.
The nightmare continues when her husband takes her to a can in the yard. He put her head inside and choked her with the words: “This time I’m going to kill you.”
The beating was out of jealousy – because of a suspicion that she had cheated.
“He found a board and hit me on the head. It broke in two. He also took a hose and hit me 3-4 times with it. At that moment there was a big shovel next to him. He wanted to hit me on the head with it too, but I put my hands on it. Then I put my hands on it again. He took me by the hands and made me sit down , with whom they manage the animals. He started to force me on the hands and insult me. I asked him to stop and told him that I was not guilty. After the beating he opened a beer and sat down. I was already broken. He played music on the speakers and said he was going out. He went in, took a shower, and got dressed. All three of them were looking at me and crying “, the woman recalls.
With the help of her children, she stands up, takes two steps and passes out.
So far the story is frightening. From here on it becomes absurd. Rosa is alive because of her neighbor, who called 112. The police came to the address with the ambulance. The first team of police officers found no reason to arrest the rapist. A second team of police officers saw Rosa in the emergency room in Pirdop. And again they do nothing.
And there, in front of the emergency room in Pirdop, hours after he brutally beat her, her husband makes a video of himself. In addition to posing next to the ambulance at that moment, he decided to upload the video with his face on TikTok that very evening. And Rosa’s condition worsened to such an extent that she was advised to go to another hospital – in Panagyurishte. And since the police don’t see why they should detain her husband, Rosa has no choice but to travel to the hospital with him again. Then he even tells her that they won’t do anything to him.
“I have connections, things won’t work out” – that’s what he told me. And it hit me again. I remained silent. He continued, “You’re going to lie about being dead drunk and fighting yourself.” I just looked at him and fainted at the entrance. He picked me up, sat me down and told me not to pretend,” says Rosa.
They see her from the hospital in Panagyurishte and do not believe the version about the fall down the stairs. Call the police immediately. A third team of policemen is coming. This time they detained the rapist, but not because of the beating, but because he did not have an identity card with him. They release him in a few hours.
The Ministry of the Interior replied that the man was detained not for 2, but for 72 hours. This official information, however, diverges from the memories of Rosa, who claims that her husband appeared at the hospital the very next morning and told her that he knew she was not guilty.
And why the previous two police teams – at Rosa’s home and at the hospital in Pirdop – did not react, the police explain as follows: “Police officers were sent to the address. Information was taken from the man and the woman, who categorically refused to file an official report /complaint. A warning report was issued to the man”.
A check found that he was known to law enforcement even before this incident. Rosa has filed harassment complaints before.
And it continues to recover. “I had surgery, they had to take out one of my ovaries. Then I had surgery on both hands, I have implants and splints. But what he did to my children hurts me the most. I will fight to the last to get parental rights right, he should have no contact with my children. I will take care of them myself,” the woman vowed.
At the moment, her children are placed in a home. Her husband is in custody. At one of the parental rights cases, he hides his face and refuses to answer questions.
The prosecutor’s office has started an investigation. It has been going on for over a month. Expertises, interrogations and verdict are awaited.
According to the doctors, after the removal of the ovary, Rosa will no longer be able to have children. And experts still can’t judge whether it’s a mild, moderate or serious injury.
