Beirut, 18 Sep (EFE).- The Lebanese Chií Group Hezbollah claimed responsibility on Wednesday for launching rockets into northern Israel, its first action since an operation attributed to the Jewish state detonated thousands of its members’ pagers the day before, killing at least 12 people in Lebanon.
«Islamic Resistance fighters bombarded the enemy’s artillery bunkers in Neve Ziv with a barrage of rockets,» Hezbollah announced in a statement that it had carried out its latest action against Israel early Tuesday afternoon.
According to the statement, the launch was a response to two Israeli attacks that killed three people in a building in Blida (south) and two others in Majdal Selm (south) on Tuesday, all of them allegedly members of the armed formation.
This is his first action since A large number of pagers in the hands of its members exploded simultaneously in different parts of Lebanon, killing at least twelve people, including two children, and injuring some 2,800.according to the latest official report.
Hezbollah has promised a commensurate response against the Jewish state, but this has yet to happen.
The chain of explosions occurred after Israeli authorities again hardened their rhetoric against Lebanon in the previous days and put on the table the potential launch of an open war against the Shiite movement.
The parties have been locked in intense crossfire since last October, in their worst clashes since the war they fought in 2006. EFE
