With two consecutive wins, Marc Márquez is in the best phase of his MotoGP season so far – he has only missed the top four in a main race three times – and he hasn’t seen this level of competitiveness since his last championship season.
When asked in a press conference if this was his most consistent phase since the injuries in 2020, the eight-time world champion confirmed:
– 2021 was not bad, there was a period in Aragon, Austin and Misano that was not bad. But it is true that the normal conditions we had in Misano are from 2019 – 2019 was a further step.
Márquez explained his current form and acknowledged that there is still room for improvement: ‘I feel that I can play with my body, I am starting to play more with the bike. There are still some weak points – for example in turn 11/12 Pecco [Bagnaia] super fast, we have to understand that for next weekend. I will not be faster than him, but if we can get closer to him. There are still some points to discover, but every time you have more confidence you can play better with the body and be faster’.
