The hearing on the proposed law presented by the Regional Councillor was held yesterday at the Chamber of the Regional Council of Campania Corrado Matera bearing the title “Protection, enhancement and promotion of the band heritage of the Campania Region and the Majorettes Corps”aimed at the institutionalization of the Musical Bands and Majorettes corps in the Campania Region.
The bill was strongly urged by numerous historic workers belonging to the world of musical bands who, in synergy with lovers of art and culture in general, have framed the serious crisis in which this now over-a-century-old sector finds itself, identifying the first actions necessary for concrete and immediate help.
The legislative project presented by Corrado Matera identifies 3 important points for the recovery, protection and valorization of musical bands, which have always been one of the healthiest and most formative forms of association for all ages, as well as representing a driving force for sharing and exchanging cultures and traditions between generations and territories. The establishment of a Regional Register of Musical Bands and Majorette Corps, the day dedicated to musical bands and the provision of contributions in favor of the band groups registered in the Regional Register represent a first important barrier of protection for an artistic heritage that absolutely must be recovered and valorized.
«On the day dedicated to the hearing of my bill – comments Corrado Matera with satisfaction – hor noted the great enthusiasm of the many personalities who passionately supported the initiative. These are prominent figures in the musical panorama, often internationally established, well aware that bands and related music courses do not only serve to “teach how to play”, but instead also have a strong value in transmitting the founding values of the person».
The Regional Councillor and leader of the Mixed Group will continue to work with determination to ensure that the law is approved in the Chamber as soon as possible: «It’s about – he underlines – of a dutiful recognition towards the many musicians and enthusiasts who, with tireless sacrifices, have preserved a cultural tradition that represents and enhances the identity of our territories. A special thanks goes to President Fiola and to the colleagues who have shown willingness to support the bill. I would also like to thank – concludes Matera – the lawyer Michele Toriello and the teachers who encouraged and accompanied me in drafting this proposed law».
