He Manchester United defeated on Tuesday 7-0 al Barnsley of the third division in the English League Cup, in the biggest win under coach Erik ten Hag. Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Christian Eriksen signed doublets each in the third round match in Old Trafford, and Antony also scored a goal.
The margin of victory surpassed United’s previous best result under Ten Hag: 4-1 wins against Real Betis and Chelsea in his first season at the club.
Rashford’s double came after ended a 12-match scoreless run with a goal against Southampton the weekend.
Garnacho also scored in that 3-0 Premier League win, emulating Rashford in score three goals in their last two games. Eriksen scored twice in the last 10 minutes.
Rashford put United ahead after dribbling past Marc Roberts in the 16th minute Antony doubled the lead converting a penalty at 35.
Garnacho fired home from close range in the second minute of first-half stoppage time and then scored in the 49th minute. Rashford scored again in the 58th.
It was the first time Rashford scored more than one goal in a match since February 2023Eriksen’s double came in the 81st and 85th minutes.
