Flooding – Viktor Orbán inspected the protection works on Nagymaros and Kismaros – Dunakanyar Province

On Wednesday morning, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán inspected the flood protection works in Nagymaros and then in Kismaros, together with Bence Rétvári, the representative of the regional parliament, Bertalan Havasi, Deputy Secretary of State in charge of the Press Office the Prime Minister, inform MTI.

The water experts and disaster prevention officials told the Prime Minister that short sections at Nagymaros, when connections are closed, must be closed with sandbags.

Construction is underway, the flood protection wall is 100 percent complete, and quality control of the mobile dam and pump installation is currently underway. The pumps direct the water from the closed canals into the Danube.

Work is also underway in Kismaros, nearly 100,000 sandbags have been used so far, and the protection work is 70 percent complete. In addition to the water officials, 600 soldiers, firefighters and volunteers are helping to protect the area, according to the report to the Prime Minister.
