The former footballer praised the Argentine Formula 1 driver and spoke of the possibility of connecting him with the owner of the company that sponsors both him and the Swiss team.
Agüero and the chance of Colapinto racing for Sauber in 2025: “We have to call Eddie”
Franco Colapinto stood out in his first appearances in Formula 1 and just one day after scoring his first points with Williams, the chance arose for him to land at Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber for the 2025 season, a team that in 2026 will become Audi.
The two main sponsors are also Sergio “Kun” Agüero’s, who not only spoke of the Argentine driver’s great present but also mentioned the chance of being able to intercede so that he can race in the top category of motor racing next year.
In the middle of his own stream, the former Argentine National Team player praised Colapinto and raised the possibility of speaking with Ed Craven, the Australian billionaire co-founder of both companies (Kick, streaming, and Stake, online betting) that sponsor the Swiss team that will become Audi for 2026, when the regulations on engines in the category change, in order to finalize the arrival of the Argentine to the team.
“He’s already at Formula 1 level. Some team has to take him on. If it’s not Williams that hires him again, another team has to hire him. There’s also Stake. Watch out, eh. Stake needs a driver. We have to call Eddie, piano piano eh, I’m going to tell Eddie. Eddie, listen to me, Stake piano piano eh. Connect me with Colapinto, how does he look with that little green car, he’s not bad at all eh,” said Agüero, who with these words lit the flame of hope in the public that dreams of continuing to see the Argentine in Formula 1.

Kun is no stranger to the Kick Sauber team either, as he was present at the presentation of their C44 – the car that represents them this year in the top category – at an event that took place in February 2024 in London.
These comments come just hours after James Vowles, Team Principal at Williams, confirmed that they will try to reach an agreement to be able to “loan” the native of Pilar to Sauber for next year. “Of course he will be with us, but what I really hope is that he is definitely racing. So I want a position for him where he is racing in 2025, ideally in Formula 1. Which means there is only one team left, we will see what we can organise there,” said the Briton, referring to the available seat that Sauber has for next season in an interview with Motorsport.
Asked for more details about this opportunity, Vowles elaborated and made clear his desire for the Pilar-born driver to remain in the category: “In two races he has shown the world that he deserves a seat in F1. I have always been a firm believer in letting good drivers race. So we will see if we can find a way to work with Audi in that circumstance. That is what I was hinting at for next year.”
Although teams are usually reluctant to share drivers with each other, except for contractual agreements, the truth is that Vowles made sure that they will not close any doors for Colapinto if another team comes looking for him: “I am not going to enter into contractual agreements, but he will always be in the family. And that is what you have to know, but that does not mean that he cannot race elsewhere.”
