La Paz, 17 Sep 2024 (ATB Digital).- Four people were arrested at a peasant blockade on the La Paz-Copacabana highway and are being investigated for at least two crimes, reported the departmental commander of the La Paz Police, Edgar Cortez.
“With regard to the people who were arrested on Monday, the prosecutor classified the case as an attack on the security of means of transport and against the security of public services,” he explained.
The suspects were discovered leaving rubble in dump trucks at a roadblock near the Corapata roadblock on the Copacabana route. They are in cells of the Special Forces to Fight Crime (Felcc) awaiting their hearing on precautionary measures, where it will be decided whether they will defend themselves in freedom or from prison.
A peasant group affiliated with Evo Morales set up five blockades on the road between Achacachi and Corapata, where the mounds of dirt predominate. The blockades demand the resignation of President Luis Arce and Vice President David Choquehuanca, after former peasant leader David Mamani was denied ministries, vice-ministries and directorships.
