LOS ANGELES, September 18, 2024 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/ — The Los Angeles Public Library will host the sixth annual Los Angeles Libros Festival, the City’s largest celebration of bilingual books, on Saturday, September 28, 2018. 10 a.m. a 4 p.m. The festival is part of many activities planned in celebration of Latino Heritage Month.
This free event, hosted by Los Angeles Times columnist Gustavo Arellano, will feature bilingual storytelling, concerts, art workshops and authors for all ages.
“The Los Angeles Libros Festival celebrates the vibrant Latino culture that makes Los Angeles so special,” said City Librarian John F. Szabo. “Our staff has done an incredible job organizing this event that represents the Library’s commitment to providing Spanish and bilingual collections, programming and services. We are thrilled to invite everyone to join us for this festival that features more than 30 events and programs featuring authors representing 11 countries.”
The roster of talent includes National Book Award-winning author, Elizabeth Acevedo; Pedro Martin, winner of the Newbery Honor Award and the Pura Belpré Award; and Susie Jaramillofrom the Emmy-nominated preschool brand Canticos. Award-winning authors include Jesús Trejo, Eliza Kinks, Mirelle Ortega, Jose Ramirez, Elisa ChaverriEricka Sánchez, Joe Cepeda, Raquel Marie and Leopoldo Gout. Activities also include art workshops with Self Help Graphics and the LACMA and MOLAA museums.
