LDC – Aston Villa and Juventus win easily

The Champions League resumed on Tuesday. The first two matches of the league phase saw easy victories for Juventus and Aston Villa. The Old Lady easily brushed aside PSV while Villa won easily at Young Boys. Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana found the net.

These are two games that interest Club Brugge, as the Blauw and Zwart will meet Juventus and Aston Villa later in their campaign. Both teams have therefore started with convincing victories.

Juventus quickly knocks out PSV

PSV, with Matteo Dams and Johan Bakayoko in the starting line-up, quickly sank in Turin. After 21 minutes, Yildiz had a little too much space to curl the ball into the top corner and just six minutes later the game was over when McKennie made it two for the Italians.

At the start of the second half, Nico Gonzalez scored the third goal for the home team. PSV would however manage to save face in the 93rd minute through Saibari. Mbangula remained on the Juve bench.

Tielemans and Onana score in Aston Villa win

Belgian side Aston Villa then had a more enjoyable evening away to Young Boys. It was Youri Tielemans who gave the English club their first ever Champions League goal. On a corner kick, the Red Devil isolated himself at the far post, controlled the ball well before placing the ball in the far corner. In the 38th minute, Jacob Ramsey doubled the lead for the English (0-2)

In the second half, Duran had a goal disallowed due to a handball by Onana, but the midfielder made up for it late on. With a long-range shot, he made it 0-3 with seven minutes remaining. Aston Villa thus became the first leaders of the league phase.
