(ANSA-AFP) – SEOUL, SEPTEMBER 18 – North Korea launched a salvo of short-range ballistic missiles this morning, for the second time in a week, Seoul and Tokyo reported. “Ahead of further launches, our military has strengthened monitoring and vigilance and carefully shared information” with allies Japan and the United States, South Korea said. The Japanese coast guard said one of the missiles had landed: “Vessels, pay attention to information coming to you and if you spot any fallen objects, do not approach but report it” to authorities. North Korea fired what Seoul described as short-range multiple ballistic missiles into waters east of the Korean Peninsula on Thursday, Pyongyang’s first major ballistic test since early July. North Korean state media later said it was a test of a “new type of 600mm multiple rocket launcher” overseen by Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un. (ANSA-AFP)
