Confiscated assets, 4 projects underway in Campania

Twelve buildings and lands confiscated will be returned to the community thanks to 8 new projects selected by the With the South Foundation with the fifth edition of the confiscated assets tender, promoted last year with the aim of valorising these assets thanks to social, cultural and economic initiatives that are sustainable over time. Four projects will be launched in Campania (provinces of Napoli e Salerno); 2 in Calabria (Catanzaro and province of Reggio Calabria). One each in Sicily (province of Catania) e Sardinia (province of New-York). They will be funded with over 3 million of euros in total.

The initiative

“Work, integration, support for people in difficulty, community services and paths of social cohesion. The return to the community of these 12 confiscated assets will allow all of this, demonstrating once again how focusing on the third sector for the enhancement of these spaces is appropriate and successful“, he declared Stephen Councilpresident of the Con il sud foundation. “If there was any need, this is also demonstrated by the initiatives already implemented and supported by the Foundation in recent years and which have allowed the valorisation of 86 confiscated properties (54 buildings; 14 lands; 17 lands with rural building and 1 vessel) for a total of over 1.8 million square meters redeveloped and returned to the citizens“.

The activities

Among the activities that will be carried out: a temporary and equipped residence that will welcome people with dementia or early-stage neurogenerative diseases, to allow support and rest for their caregivers. An accessible and inclusive beach, with platforms and equipment to facilitate entry into the water. The professional integration of young people and people with disabilities. Structures that will temporarily host seasonal farm workers, to guarantee them dignified living conditions, and tourists, who will be offered alternative itineraries on the themes of legality and integration. A social tailoring shop that will also sell clothing and accessories for young people. An ethical B&B. Professional training courses and painting, decoration and ceramics workshops from which a social cooperative will be born. An adventure park for families, which will be built on confiscated land where olive trees will be planted and oil will be produced.

Meeting and aggregation

All projects also include meeting and social activities, education and awareness courses on legality, artistic and creative workshops, initiatives for families, seminars and workshops.
