430 songs recorded “and if the public knows about ten of them well, that’s the maximum”… 95 ans et Hugues Aufray is still on the road, more dashing than ever.
A late success after a tragedy
The opportunity to come back with him on his incredible career which nevertheless began late, at 30 years oldafter a personal tragedy: “It was quite curious. It was a tragedy that made me decide to become a singer. I had a brother who had a unique voice in the world and after a great heartache, he decided to leave this world. And overnight, I found myself an orphan of a brother. I would never have been a singer if my brother had continued. I would have been a farmer or a sculptor, I would have worked the land“.
The talent shows
As Star Academy prepares to make its return on October 12 in partnership with France Bleu, it is worth remembering that Hugues Aufray made his debut in a radio talent show for Europe number 1. As for what the singer of Santiano think about these competitions today: “Everyone must do according to their tastes. Personally, I don’t like competitions very much.. Saying that this singer is better than that singer… we can compare voices but it’s a drama to choose. At the moment, there is a singer that I like a lot who is called Slimane. It’s my dream to do something with him.”
Hugues Aufray is on tour until the end of 2024 all over France with an original concept:“It’s a mixture of lecture and singing. I tell storiesI know that people are interested in the stories of the songs. So I am led to speak but there are songs all the same!”.
