/Poogled.info/ “All together we must preserve the Bulgarian spiritual identity”. This was stated by the presidential candidate nominated by the Initiative Committee and supported by BSP Gen. Rumen Radev during a meeting with dozens of representatives of creative unions.
The general emphasized that although his professional development was connected to a world infinitely different from that of artists, he was always aware of the importance of culture and he himself developed thanks to Bulgarian literature, cinema, music and culture in general.
Radev said that he wants to do something for Bulgaria to see our country differently, on a European path of development. He explained that our students and emigrants are leaving on the established path, but investments have stopped arriving, which have decreased by more than 30%. The presidential candidate was categorical that the problem lies in the lack of spirituality and Bulgarianness. “If we don’t have security in our spirituality, the road we are in now awaits us again. Our national identity, spirituality and dignity can be a basis for the unification of Bulgaria.”
Gen. Radev stated that every politician should try to step into the shoes of the ordinary citizen and feel his problems, worries and hopes before making decisions. “We cannot move forward in Europe if we do not have spirituality and culture. If we don’t have dignity, we will continue to crawl along the bottom, but we have to fly”. As his main priorities in the field of culture and education, Radev pointed out that our classics should not be dropped from the curricula, to regain the rightful place of our cinema, theater and ballet. “Such an environment must be created in Bulgaria so that young people feel proud to be Bulgarians and with the achievements of our culture, it forms them and they continue to develop here,” he said. The general pointed out that there should be a national center of Bulgarian spirituality and he stated that he would work to build one. Radev emphasized that literacy is an element of national security, and an illiterate nation is easy prey, especially for its politicians.
